Brad Stevens Hired By Celtics As Head Coach On $22M Deal

Jul 3, 2013 8:45 PM

The Boston Celtics have hired Brad Stevens as head coach on a six-year contract worth $22 million, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Stevens became one of basketball's most coveted coaches during his two consecutive runs to the Final Four with Butler.

"Brad and I share a lot of the same values," said Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. "Though he is young, I see Brad as a great leader who leads with impeccable character and a strong work ethic. His teams always play hard and execute on both ends of the court. Brad is a coach who has already enjoyed lots of success, and I look forward to working with him towards Banner 18."

Stevens is still just 36 and is a big proponent of advanced statistics.

Stevens will replace Doc Rivers, who the Celtics parted ways with this offseason in exchange for a first round pick from the Los Angeles Clippers.
